The Chairman, Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area, Hon. John Campos Ogundare, has inaugurated a poverty alleviation committee to empower the aged and widows in the local government.
Speaking at the programme titled "Stakeholders Sensitization Meeting And Inauguration Of Community Base Targeting Team (CBTT)", to better the lives of his people , the hardworking chairman noted that: "When people come together with a common ideology to elect a visionary leader and the leader in turn harkened to the yearning of his people through provision of laudable program and project is what can be described as Dividend of Democracy.
He added that the initiative is in line with the National Social Safety- Nets project, and the community based target team is to be inaugurated in Eti-Osa East LCDA by the Lagos State Operations Coordinating Unit (LASUCO) and it is aimed at uplifting the poor and vulnerable thereby ensuring the accessibility of people to benefits of the scheme which is very vital in the social-economic development of the council.
According to Ogundare, the team members selected are expected to be responsible for activities which include community engagement and most importantly, ensure those with genuine needs and also the aged and widows are catered for.
“As a government we have set out programs that will better the lives of our people in Eti Osa East L.C.D.A and we will continue to give the necessary support to the CBTT in carrying out their duties.
“I want to implore all categories of people captured under this program to offer their maximum corporations in providing the facilitators of CBTT with authentic and adequate information about themselves.
“Likewise all the Stakeholders are enjoined to give CBTT the maximum support in mobilising the targeted people in our respective Communities within the L.C.D.A to support the team in identifying the targeted beneficiaries in this program".
