The Olumodi Festival 2021 has begun in Ajah community.
The festival is one of the foremost traditional festivals in Ajah land. It is a community festival headed by Ojupon and Ogunsemo families in Ajah land, alongside with other five families.
The festival which started on the 29th of October, 2021 with Ikirodo Igbo celebration will run through to 23rd of November 2021.
The 13th of November, 2021 will be Jigbo Eleshin outing and the grand finale will feature the performance of popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Sulaimon Alao Malaika amidst fanfare and merriment.
The triennial festival which was last observed in 2018 is celebrated to bring prosperity, peace and tranquility to the community. It is also expected to bring economical growth to Ajah land and its environs.
Speaking with journalists, the Baale of Ajah land, Chief Murisiku Oseni Ojupon said: "Olumodi festival is a festival of our forefathers that is being celebrated to bring peace, expansion and harmony to Ajah land."
He further said that his expectation during this year’s celebration is for Ajah land to have a king. He wished the government will come to their aid and grant their request of kingship in Ajah, starting from him the present Baale.
Also, Mr Babatunde Ashafa Ojupon, the Eleku of Ajah community who is in charge of Jigbo deities, explained the process of the celebration. He also highlighted the measures put in place to ensure a peaceful celebration.
