We Have The Numerical Strength To Win Election In Lagos —Jandor
A faction of the All Progressives Congress, in Lagos state, Lagos4Lagos Movement has fused into the Peoples Democratic Party after a voice vote.
Conducting the voice vote on Saturday after a visit to the group’s office at Liberty Place in Ikeja, former President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki who said he returned from overseas trip last night to achieve the one item purpose said, ‘if you want Lagos4Lagos to join PDP say AYES and a thunderous AYES followed; drowning the NAY as the group bursts into ecstasy.
Moment later, the Lead Visioner of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, Dr. Abdulazeez Olajide Adediran popularly known as Jandor wrote, “It’s official….. It’s time to return Power back to the people. We have moved…It’s time.”
Jandor assured Saraki that the group has the numerical strength to win elections in Lagos state at anytime.
Speaking earlier, Dr Saraki said “I arrived the country last night to achieve this purpose. Most aides flew in from Abuja to show the importance of this event. This Lagos is for all of us.
“I’m happy to say I have been associated with this group for the past one year. I told Jandor just like a popular politician in Lagos normally say that Power is not served ‘Al Carte’ and asked him if he was ready to take power. I have been watching this group keenly. No one in Lagos that does not know about Lagos4Lagos.
“He could not have done that alone. What you are doing is a new chapter for future generations, you will get to the promised Land
“Today, I see love, I’m more convinced that victory is around the corner. Today, PDP has conducted the best convention all over.PDP is committed to rescue Nigeria.. this is the journey. The journey has begun. If we must win power in Lagos, we must open our door
“If we organise ourselves and walk together there is no stopping us. I commended Lagos PDP leaders from Chief Bode George for their rebuilding efforts of PDP.
Buoyed by the huge presence of Lagos4Lagos Movement at the meeting, Saraki was however optimistic that come May 2023, he will be in Lagos for the swearing in of Jandor as the governor of Lagos State.
“This struggling is not for Lagos alone, but for Nigeria in general.
“Today, I have only one request to take the to the PDP Chairman in Abuja that Lagos4Lagos is ready to move to PDP. We move.”
“No Nation can be strong without women involvement. I’m happy you have women in large numbers in your group.” Saraki said.
Welcoming Dr. Saraki, the apex leader of Lagos4Lagos and former Secretary to Lagos State Government, Princess Adenrele Adeniran-Ogunsanya said she was delighted to have the former senate president coming to visit the group.
She, however, urged Saraki to stand by the Lagos4Lagos Movement and ensure that it realize its objective of governing the state come 2023.
Responding to Saraki’s request to join PDP, Jandor said he’s fascinated by how the senate president emerged In 2015 , beating the godfather to the game.
He said, “I’m so happy to have you in our midst today. We look at you as fore-bearer for what you did at the Senate as you emerge president. “No more baba sope.”
Jandor also told Saraki that he has been receiving PDP leaders who admonished him to join the Party.
“Currently we are in APC, we participated in Congresses, did parallel. Set up reconciliation committee, nothing happened.
He, however, explained that with the treatment meted to former Governor Akinwumi Ambode who remained in the APC and was denied the second term, he would prefer Edo Governors’ style who left APC for the PDP and was re-elected. “We’ll take Obaseki style”. He said.
“We know time is far running. We need to do the needful and we have numerical strength, so we are ready to join your structure which is very key.
“Be rest assure that we are good for governorship. Our concern is that we want to believe the party is ready to win and give us the ticket.” Jandor said.
Dignitaries that accompanied Saraki to the ceremony include Senators Ahmed Obembe, Idris Raji, Duro Faseyi from Kogi, Kwara and Ekiti states.
Also the publicity secretary of the PDP In Kwara state, Tunde Ashaolu and Head of Media of Dr. Saraki, Mr. Yusuph Olaniyonu were part of the entourage.
Representing Lagos PDP at the ceremony was Alhaja Tanwa Olusi.
It was a defining moment for Lagos4Lagos as the group went wild with jubilation after the voice vote to formally join the PDP.
