2023 Guber Election: Ruling Abia PDP Stakeholders Dumps Okey Ahiwe, Rally Support For Labour Party Candidate, Alex Otti

The ruling PDP in Abia has unprecedentedly joined the collage political groups in the State throwing their weight behind Labour Party governorship candidate, Dr. Alex Otti.

On Wednesday March 8, the Peoples’ Democratic Party’s stakeholders in Ikwuano-Umuahia led by PDP chieftain in the state Chief Charles Ogbonna (Evula Ogu), has unanimously adopted Dr. Alex Otti as against their party’s candidate, Okey Ahiwe.

The cross party adoption took place in a well attended rally in Abia state capital, Umuahia under the aegis of Ikwuano-Umuahia Political Forum.

In his opening speech, the younger brother of Chief Okezie Ogbonna (Bode), lambasted the ruling party in the state for non-performance and gross ineptitude.

He said that the whole promises made to Abians particularly, Umuahia have remained a mirage. Ogbonna maintained that he’s still “a member of PDP” and will not resign from the party but, “must support Alex Otti of Labour Party to become the governor of Abia state”.

The Abia Labour party gubernatorial candidate, Alex Otti, acknowledged the overwhelming support he has being enjoying from across party lines in the state; promising never to take it for granted.

He retierated his commitment to clear all arrears of pensions and workers salaries as well as ensure prompt payment of same as at when due.

Otti promised to massively upgrade the status of Umuahia and its environs as a befitting state capital.

He debunked the unfounded rumour circulating the state that, the Labour Party Candidate in the lingering presidential election, Peter Obi had an agreement with PDP ruling party, not to visit the Abia for Governorship campaign.

He stated that the rescheduled Obi’s campaign visit to Abia was due to the legal gymnastics going in Abuja Courts over INEC refusal to grant Labour Party legal team access for the inspection of electoral materials used in the last election.

The high point of the event was the presentation of Holy Bible by the Forum as a ‘symbol of wisdom, strength, justice and peace’.

In his entourage includes: Alex Otti Campaign Director General, Hon. Acho Obioma; some Labour Party State Assembly Candidates in Umuahia, Augustine Meregini (Ugolee), Anthony Chinasa-Abiola; Umuahia North Campaign DG. Col Emeka Chilaka rted. ; Labour Party key stakeholders in the state, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu, Chief Dickson Nzenwa and other party chieftains.
