Police threaten to shoot as family restrict trespassers on their land

The operatives of the Operation Burst drafted to the NTA Ibadan station area have threatened to shoot at the Oya-gaga family in Ibadan as the family members move to restrict trespassers from encroaching on their ancestral land.

It was gathered that the 10-acre landed property situated on Queen Elizabeth II Road, Wesleyan Road, Oke Agodi Kube Road, Ibadan, Oyo State and very close to NTA Ibadan belongs to the ancestral lineage of Oya-gaga family in Ibadan. And to forestall any future trespassers on the land, the family had built a perimeter fence with a gate around the land.

It was later discovered that the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Ibadan that shares a fence with the property in connivance with Operation Burst had completely taken over the land by selling portions of it for the building of illegal structures, despite the property being gated.

Structures illegally built on the property include IBEDC Agodi Service Unit, NTA Shopping Complex, Bank of Industry, Oando Filling Station, Industrial Training Fund (ITF).

It was also noticed that Operation Burst and other unknown trespassers use the said property as their office too. No wonder the operatives threaten to shoot the family members who came to lock up the property.

The family had written to all the illegal occupants to vacant the said premises on/before May 17, 2023, and had warned that further occupancy if the property might lead to legal action against them.

The family therefore seized this medium to call on the appropriate authorities to call NTA and Operation Burst to order so as to forestall any breakdown of law and order in the area.
