CDS, GENERAL MUSA URGES FG TO CONSTRUCT GOOD ROADS TO FACILITATE FIGHT AGAINST INSECURITY

The Chief of Defence Staff ( CDS) General Christopher Gwabin Musa has called for urgent attention to the construction of roads in areas of military operations across the country.

The CDS on a visit to the ministry of Works and Housing on Tuesday in Abuja noted that good road networks are pivotal in carrying and sustaining the armed forces efforts of clamping down on criminal hideouts and enclaves across the country.


General Musa also commended the Minister, Senator Dave Omahi for his efforts towards rehabilitating Nigeria's deplorable high ways while urging them to do more.

 In his remarks, the Minister of Works and Housing, Senator Dave Umahi commended the military for the renewed vigour in  the fight against insecurity in Nigeria and assured of his ministry's readiness to partner the AFN  to rehabilitate roads that are critical to military operations in the country.

Similarly, General Musa, while on a working visit to the Ministry of Agriculture and food security, appreciated the ministry's giant efforts in  addressing food security in the country while emphasizing the AFN's desire to work with the ministry to bring an end to the contentious farmer/ herders conflicts. The Defence Chief also disclosed the readiness of the  Defence Headquarters to establish Defence Farms  to encourage members of the Armed Forces to embrace farming culture.

The minister of Agriculture, Abubakar Kyari who received the CDS in company of the minister of state, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi noted that the federal government has mapped out a number of policies aimed towards improving food security in Nigeria. Senator Kyari also commended the AFN for ensuring the safe return of farmers back to the farm lands. He further maintained that citizens move freer now than before. He also stressed on the need to collaborate more with the armed forces to ensure food sufficiency in the country.
