On Friday, tragedy struck in Lagos's Ogudu area as a falling container claimed the life of a woman. The incident occurred when a fully loaded 40ft Mack articulated truck toppled onto a car, instantly causing the woman's death, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

"A fully loaded 40fts Mack articulated truck today fell on a Nissan Car (ABJ 692 BG), resulting in the immediate death of a woman at the rear of the car. The car's driver, however, escaped unhurt with assistance from LASTMA Officials near N.N.P.C Estate, Alapere, Lagos," stated Adebayo Taofiq, the agency's Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department.

Following the tragedy, the truck driver and his motor-boy fled the scene, as confirmed by LASTMA.

"Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the Mack articulated 40 ft fully loaded container lost control at high speed due to brake failure, colliding with a moving Nissan car near N.N.P.C Estate along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway," stated LASTMA.

Alabi Olukayode from LASTMA's Zone 2 in Ogudu/Alapere reported that the agency handed over the deceased woman's body to Alapere Police Station.

The rescue efforts involved LASTMA officers, along with other first responders and bystanders who assisted in the operation.
